Frequently Asked Questions

Why wheat and gluten free?

Kerry has always had a passion for baking, cooking, and good food. So, several years ago when she was diagnosed with many food allergies and sensitivities including an allergy to wheat and gluten she began her quest to find quality baked goods that would be safe to eat, Unfortunately, the foods on the market at that time did not meet the quality standard that she strived for.

She began tweaking old family recipes and developing new ones that she shared with family and friends who suffer from Celiac disease. It was through their encouragement and Kerry’s continued search for excellence and quality of product that Kerry’s Sweet Decadence evolved!

What is the shelf life of Kerry’s products?

Kerry’s products are made without preservatives and are therefore best if enjoyed within 5 days of purchase. Sweet Sun Dabs, both Almond Maple and Blueberry Hazelnut will remain fresh for 2 weeks if kept in an airtight container or bag. Additionally, Gratifying Granola will remain fresh for one month in an airtight container or bag. Brownies and cakes should be kept in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. However, all of Kerry’s products can be placed in airtight freezer bags and stored in the freezer for a 3-6 months to enjoy at a later date.

Does wheat/gluten free mean products are fat free and have fewer calories?

No, wheat and gluten free baking does not eliminate calories. In fact, some products may provide more nutritional benefit because of the combination of flours used in the baking process. Some of the flours provide more protein and fiber than products that strictly use wheat flour! However, wheat/gluten free does not mean that taste is sacrificed which is true with Kerry’s products!

Do you use margarine in the baking process?

No, all of Kerry only uses sweet cream or unsalted butter in the baking of her products!

Do you use white sugar in baking?

No, Kerry uses Evaporated Cane Juice in her products! Since Evaporated Cane Juice is not highly processed liked white refined sugar it maintains more of its natural nutritional value.

Does wheat/gluten free also mean vegan?

No, not in reference to Kerry’s products. Some products on the market that are wheat/gluten free are also vegan; however, Kerry’s products are not vegan products.
